YouTube’s New Rules for Creators: What You Need to Know About AI Content
YouTube is changing its rules and monetization updates. These changes affect how creators can make money. The main reason is to stop “AI slop.” These new rules start on July 15, 2025.
Why the Change?
YouTube wants good content. They want to protect advertisers. They also want viewers and original creators to have a better experience. Too many low-quality, AI-made videos are appearing.
What is “AI Slop”?
This means videos that are:
- Made quickly and in large numbers.
- Very repetitive or not real.
- Examples include AI-made lists, videos that loop the same clips, or simple slideshows.
- Videos with only automated voices over basic pictures.
- Channels that post many low-effort AI videos.
It’s content that doesn’t have much original thought or effort.
What About AI Videos in General?
YouTube is not banning AI tools. You can still use AI.
- You can still earn money with AI. But you must add real value. This means your own comments, editing, or a good story.
- Low-effort AI videos might not make money. This includes simple automated clips reading text over stock video.
YouTube’s Stance
YouTube says these are small changes. They are just better at finding content that was already not allowed. This includes videos made in large numbers or very repetitive ones.
Your reaction videos or clip compilations can still make money. But you must add a lot of your own comments. You need to transform the clips. They need to be truly educational or entertaining.
What Happens if You Don’t Follow the Rules?
Channels that post inauthentic videos might lose their ability to make money. This means no ads or other revenue. You’ll need to fix or remove these videos. Then you can try to get back into the program.
These new rules help YouTube keep its platform high-quality. They are adapting to new AI technologies.
