Understanding the Roles
Office Assistant (Multipurpose): This is a clerical role. You will be responsible for customer service, cash handling, cheque passing and other front-desk tasks. This is the first point of contact for customers in the bank.
Officer Scale-I (Assistant Manager): This is a probationary officer role. After training, you will manage the day-to-day bank operations, work on expanding the bank’s business and handle customer queries.
Officer Scale-II (Specialist and General Banking): These are managerial positions for candidates with prior experience. These roles are specialized, such as IT, law and marketing, or general banking, in which you have to manage a specific department or branch operations.
Officer Scale-III (Senior Manager): This is a senior management role for experienced banking professionals. You will be responsible for managing a large branch, overseeing multiple departments and taking important business decisions.
Age Limit Criteria (As on 01 September 2025)
You must meet the age requirements for the post you are applying for. The cutoff date for calculating your age is September 1, 2025. This means you should fall within the specified age bracket on this date.
IBPS also provides age relaxation for candidates from reserved categories. Candidates from SC/ST categories get a 5-year relaxation in the upper age limit, while OBC candidates get a 3-year relaxation.
