Earthquake Alert: Delhi-NCR Rocked by Tremors from Haryana

Delhi and the National Capital Region just got a rude awakening! A 4.4 magnitude earthquake hit us this morning, Thursday, July 10, 2025. The epicenter was in Jhajjar, Haryana, and it struck at 9:04:50 AM IST.

You probably felt it – many people are calling it the “longest” tremor they’ve ever experienced! The ground shook across Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad, Gurugram, and Faridabad, even reaching parts of Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan. That’s a wide area! People rushed out of their homes and offices in a bit of a panic.

The National Center for Seismology (NCS) confirmed the quake. Luckily, we haven’t heard any reports of major damage or injuries yet, but it definitely reminds us that our region is prone to these kinds of events. Delhi sits in a “High Damage Risk Zone” (Seismic Zone IV), thanks to those active fault lines and the constant collision of the Indian and Eurasian plates.

The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) issued a reminder to stay safe. Remember “Drop, Cover, Hold” if it happens again! This is actually the second significant tremor we’ve felt in the last five months, with a 4.0 magnitude quake hitting in February, right in Delhi’s Dhaula Kuan. Stay vigilant, everyone!
